Iceberg Homes is a grassroots movement to stop developers like Pierre Bastid and Malou Beauvoir aka “Ezruli, LLC” from destroying our historic homes, our health, our quality of life, and, on a broader scale our beloved New York City.
48-50 West 69th Street is a prime example of what excess money can do to destroy a community. The destruction of two historic brownstones to make of the two a one family home and their excavation of 38 feet deep into the ground is outrageous. Neighbors have gotten ill from the numerous toxins. Rents will continue to rise. People have been displaced. Homelessness is already an issue. We cannot allow for the Upper West Side and New York City to become a place where only the 1% can live.
Some projects are simply not meant to be. This is one of them.
The excesses of the wealthy and their indifference to the men and women of our valuable community will not be tolerated.
We have a good chance to win. While billionaires give money to politicians in order to have their way — politicians still need voter support. We need to bring this to the attention of the public. And we need for our work to be sustainable. In order to do this we need regular people to financially support our grassroots movement.
After all, there are more regular people than they are billionaires. Together we can do this!
