Live in Midtown East

Parameters: Midtown East is bounded by the East River to the east and Fifth Avenue, then Central Park (at 59th Street) to the west. Its southern boundary is 34th Street and its northern boundary is generally 59th Street.

Midtown East was once associated with work since Grand Central station is at is epicenter and from there one can get anywhere. However, apartment prices are reasonably priced compared to other parts of the center and this means it has become sought after by savvy renters.

It is also a charming area with some of the world’s most well-known buildings such as the Chrysler Building, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and the city’s tallest skyscrapers set against modest older residential buildings like Tudor City. In 1988 Tudor City (once the city’s first high-rises) was a named a New York City historic district. The fifteen buildings that comprise Tudor City were built in the neo-Gothic style and boasted “tulip gardens, small golf courses, and private parks” upon its completion in the 1920s for the middle-class residents its developers courted.

The blocks closer to the East River have an international vibe primarily due to the United Nations.

During the day the streets are packed with professionals, tourists and residents like. It then slows down to just residents in the evenings and transforms itself into one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the city with some of the best views. A couple relocating from Chicago were stunned to see that their modestly priced elevator apartment had views of the Empire State Building.

It’s surprises like this that make Midtown East the place you’ll want to call home.
